Greetings from Nilkantha Trust for Studies on Bay of Bengal Region (NTSBBR), Kolkata!
Nilkantha Trust for Studies in Bay of Bengal Region (NTSBBR) is a group of academics who have a common research interest in studies pertaining to Bay of Bengal region.
It takes its name, ‘Nilkantha’, from the mythological narrative of Lord Shiva who consumed the poison that originated from the sea when God (Devas) and Demons (Asuras) churned the ocean in order to get Amrita (divine nectar). This poison that emanated during the “Samudra Manthan” made his throat blue in colour. Ultimately his wife saved his life.
Like Lord Shiva, humankind is constantly consuming poison, though unwillingly, from the toxic environment they are forced to live in. Millions of ‘Nilkanthas’ are now struggle to survive!
